Objective:
To create a visible aid that can be incorporated into the
production of FIBC’s that will allow them to be seen in low light conditions.
Reason:
Many FIBC’s when filled with product end up on a roadside, embankment, footpath, pavement or on the road itself particularly those FIBC’s used by Local Councils for Green Waste Kerbside Collections. There is no current legislation stating that reflective material (sewn, attached or stuck) has to be put on the bag. However, rigid skips do have to adhere to such legislation as quoted in the ‘Builders Skips (Markings) Regulations 1984
Summary:
FIBC’s are supplied into many different industries right from the Building Trade to the Food and Chemical industries. At some point in the life of the bag they are standing dormant and in some cases extra visibility is required.
By incorporating reflective material into / onto the FIBC visibility is dramatically increased. FIBC’s made from darker material often cannot be seen at all in the dark with green kerbside bags being the most obvious example of this.
The Smartlite reflective technology can assist in avoiding potential accidents either on site or on a public highway or indeed anywhere that FIBC’s are filled, stored and used.
